Day 2 Giants Causeway Bucket List….Check!

 July 8, 2023

Today we explored two places in Northern Ireland…..The Giant’s Causeway and the city of Derry/Londonderry. It was a beautiful day for exploring and SO-o-o worth it! Pictures cannot do the beauty of this place Justice, but here are some pictures of our day.

We visited The Giants Causeway first.

Heading down to the stones listening to an audio tour of the history and the myth.

Next we headed to Derry-Londonderry, the last walled city in Ireland. Derry is sitting in Ireland and the Northern Ireland side is referred to as Londonderry because it’s under British rule still.

Shout Out!

I wanted to give a big shout out to Jess for setting up our blog for this trip! She did an amazing job of creating our top banner picture….which is a blended picture. The left side shows The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland and the right side of the pic shows the town of Portree on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

Kudos, Jess!

Planning…

Welcome to Trinity Sisters Travel!

This July we will be traveling to Ireland/Northern Ireland and Scotland!

Our current Trinity Sisters on this trip will be....Jessica, Nan, Paula, and Louise

Hi, I’m Louise.

It seems like I’ve been planning this trip to Northern Ireland and Scotland for years! In fact, I have been. After our last trip to Scotland in 2018, we have been wanting to return.  So I planned a trip for July 2020…. Then the world went crazy and shut down. My flight got cancelled and then I tried again for July 2021.  Again things got canceled. So I put out feelers to be notified when both Ireland and Scotland would be “opening” back up….finally last summer I got an email from Ireland that they were dropping Covid restrictions and opening back up to tourists from abroad.

I was so excited! Then Scotland followed suit.  At last!

So then I had to patiently (more like impatiently) wait for the flights to accept reservations.

As soon as flights were available to book I was on it! We reserved our flights and then the fun begins.

We are arriving in Dublin, Ireland then taking a train to Belfast where we will pick up our rental car from SIXT. We will stay two days in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland touring the country then heading back to Belfast where we will drop off our rental car and explore Belfast. The next morning we are taking the Stenaline ferry to Scotland.

Once in Scotland we will pick up our rental car and head to Lochness where we have a B&B reserved.

We will explore several different parts of Scotland going from one accommodation to another With about 3 to 4 days at each one. Then head to Edinburgh where we will explore for 3 days, then getting on our flight back to the USA after our whirlwind trip. Can you say “ Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”?  But then add bus, taxi, ferries, and boats to the itinerary.

We can’t wait!
